Request to Inspect Public Records

Pursuant to the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) (Section 14-2-1 et seq. NMSA 1978), every person has the right to inspect the public records of the Village of Tijeras.

The act also makes compliance with requests to inspect public records an integral part of the routine duties of the officers and employees of the Village of Tijeras.

Requests to inspect public records must be written and may be submitted by any of the following means:

    • Complete and hand-deliver an IPRA request form to the Clerk or Deputy Clerk at Village Hall, located at 12 Camino Municipal, Tijeras, NM 87059. Physical copies of the IPRA request form are available at Village Hall. You may access and download an electronic copy of the form by following this link.
    • Mail your completed IPRA request form to:

Village of Tijeras
Attn: Clerk or Deputy Clerk
P.O. Box 9

    • Scan and email your completed IPRA request form to clerk@tijerasnm.gov. Please include “Request to Inspect Public Records” in the subject line of your email.
    • Fill out the electronic form below.

Please note that the procedures and penalties described in IPRA apply only to written requests.

Written requests to inspect public records must include the name, address, and phone number of the individual making the request, as well as a description of the record sought in sufficient detail to enable Village staff to identify and locate the requested records.

If an individual making a request would like one or more copies of a public record, a reasonable fee may be charged. The fee for documents is $0.25 per page. The fee for archived documents is $1.00 per page. The Village of Tijeras may request that applicable fees for copying public records be paid in advance, before the copies are made. A receipt indicating that the fees have been paid for making copies of public records will be provided upon request.
